  • 2 packed cups brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 12 ounces sour cherry jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together room temperature unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in one egg, almond extract, and baking powder until well combined. Gradually mix in flour and rolled oats, then fold in sliced almonds.
  4. Reserve 2/3 cup of the dough for topping. Press the remaining dough into the prepared pan to form the base layer.
  5. Spread sour cherry jam evenly over the base layer, then crumble the reserved dough on top.
