  2. In a medium heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat, combine butter and sugar, stirring consistently until the mixture reaches 285°F (dark amber color).
  3. Pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly on top and let them soften before spreading into an even layer.
  5. Top with finely chopped pecans and gently press them in.
  6. Allow to cool at room temperature for about 1 hour until set, then break into pieces.
