  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in one bowl.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and sour cream to the butter mixture until combined. Stir in milk.
  5. For the cinnamon swirl, blend brown sugar with cinnamon and melted butter to form a paste.
  6. Fill each cupcake liner halfway with batter, add a spoonful of cinnamon mixture, then top with more batter.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before glazing.
