  • 1/3 cup cane granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for rolling)
  • 3/4 cup apple butter (Musselman's or similar)
  • 4 tablespoons turbinado sugar (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and molasses until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, and fine sea salt; mix until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together cane granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  6. Scoop about two tablespoons of cookie dough, roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture, and place on the baking sheet.
  7. Create an indent in the center of each dough ball and fill with apple butter; sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
  8. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until edges are set; cool on a wire rack before serving.
